Best Practices in Chiropractic Academy

Required Material:

Each participant will be required to have a copy of Differential Diagnosis and Management for the Chiropractor by Dr. Thomas Souza

Preparatory Material: (6 CEU’s available- depending upon the State requirements):

- Review 3 case studies and determine appropriate diagnosis code(s) for each case

- Review chapters from Differential Diagnosis and Management for the Chiropractor(to be completed prior to Second Session):Cervical, Lumbar, Headache, Scoliosis, Abdomen, Shoulder, Wrist, Knee & Ankle chapters

- Review Documentation and Coding Presentation

- Completion of Examination over the Preparatory Material (must achieve a score of at least 75%)

On-line X-Ray Course sponsored by Center for Diagnostic Imaging CDI: (3 CEU’s available)


First Session: On-Site Seminar (12 CEU’s):

Seminar will consist of large group lecture and discussion, small group case studies and discussion.

9:00 am – 9:30 am:Diagnostic Code Discussion

Review Case Study Results / Discuss need for consistency / Introduce BPICA Diagnostic Code Matrix

9:30 am – 10:00am:Resource material Presentation

10:00 am – 10:30 am: Taking a proper history and Goal Setting Presentation

10:30 am – 11:30 am: Treatment Plans / Identifying Physical Red and Yellow Flags / E&M Protocols Presentation

11:30 am – 12:00 pm: Clinical Pearls

12:00 am – 1:00 pm:Lunch Break

1:00 pm – 2:30 pm:Cervical Spine Case

2:30 pm – 3:00 pm:Outcome Assessment Presentation

3:00 pm – 4:30 pm:Lumbar Spine Case

4:30 pm – 5:30 pm:Providing Outcomes to BPICA Presentation

5:30 pm – 6:00 pm:Clinical Pearls


Sunday

8:00 am – 9:30 am:Upper Extremity Case

9:30 am – 10:00 am:Clinical Pearls

10:00 am – 11:30 am:Lower Extremity Case

11:30 am – 12:00 pm:Closing remarks

9:00 am – 9:45 am:Cervical Case Study

9:45 am – 10:45 am: Dr. Souza will lecture on the most important clinical pearls regarding the cervical spine

10:45 am – 11:00 am: Clinical Pearls

11:00 am – 11:15 am: Documentation and Coding Presentation

11:15 am – 12:00 pm: Lumbar Case Study

12:00 pm – 1:30 pm: Lunch

1:30 pm – 2:30 pm: Dr. Souza will lecture on the most important clinical pearls regarding the lumbar spine

2:30 pm – 3:00 pm: Clinical Pearls

3:00 pm – 3:30 pm: Dr. Souza will lecture on how to access literature

3:30 pm: - 4:00 pm: Upper extremity case study

4:00 pm – 5:00 pm: Dr. Souza will lecture on the most important clinical pearls regarding the UpperExtremities

5:00 pm – 5:30 pm: Clinical Pearls

8:00 am – 8:15 am: Patient Visit Methodology Presentation / Discussion

8:15 am – 8:45 am: Lower Extremity Case study

8:45 am – 9:45 am: Dr. Souza will lecture on the most important clinical pearls regarding the lower Extremities

9:45 am – 10:15 am: Clinical Pearls

10:15 am – 11:00 am: Dr. Souza Question and Answer session

11:00 am – 11:30 am: “10 Steps to Achieve BPIC”

11:30 am – 12:00 pm: Recap of BPICA and future plans
